I'm not sure this is inevitable but again and again across history you see organic movements for liberation appear and then unscrupulous people maneuver themselves to their head, take control of them, and then steer them to the right in order to achieve their own power and ends.

Thinking about how our movements can be more resilient against this process is worthwhile.

I remember the green party (US) came to do a talk at my college and someone asked what would stop them from becoming just as corrupt as the other parties and they hand waved it going “well it wouldn’t be the green party anymore if that happened.” Maybe they did/do have good safeguards but the question seems like it should be take seriously (re list the actual measures/mechanisms you have in place).

Generally power grabs from within movements are enabled by destabilization through external assault.
