Donald Trump said Friday his administration will take action on Greenland “whether they like it or not,” further escalating his rhetoric as he pushes to acquire the Danish territory for the U.S.

The comments came during a meeting with oil executives to discuss the prospect of doing business in Venezuela. Less than a week earlier, the U.S. military invaded the oil-rich South American nation and captured its leader, Nicolás Maduro.

Denmark and its European allies in NATO – the military alliance co-founded by the U.S. – have pushed back, reiterating that Greenland is not for sale. But the Trump administration nevertheless says it is currently weighing a range of options on Greenland, including utilizing the U.S. military or cutting a deal to purchase it from Denmark.

If they had any balls at all, potential Democratic hopefuls for 2028 should be announcing now,

"If Trump takes Greenland or any other country's land, I'll give it back immediately if elected."

Trumps whole thing is throwing grenades and leaving others to deal with a fallout. No matter what happens with Greenland he's irreprably damaged the USs alliances everywhere. The possibility the US is fickle enough to invade an ally and then undo it in 4 years is insane. Any successor to trump that wants to backtrack needs to sort out the rampant unchecked power of the office, not to mention the lack of accountability at so many levels of the government.

That's not really what happens, from what I've observed. I think once a policy has been woven into action, it's difficult to unpick all of the new dependencies and go backwards without wasting a tremendous amount pf resources. Most of what Trump has been doing is probably here to stay. The Democrats are super neutral on everything. there's almost nobody pushing to the left.

The US has given up captured territories before. Including the Panama Canal Zone, the Philippines, Cuba, and others.

All the Soviet Iron Curtain countries

Afghanistan

Lots of nuances, nothing is a black & white perfect analogy

if people had any balls at all, they would abandon the traitorous democratic party

I propose a Superman party, where we save chipmunks, and drop dictators on cacti.
