Son of a South African emerald mine tycoon, AFAIK family moved to Canada in his youth, then he moved to the US.
I feel bad for any non-white employee of SpaceX, Starlink etc. who feels they cannot quit due to living expenses. If I were in their shoes and could get another job, I'd be leaving ASAP.
