Depends what you use it for. I see people use it for group chats, video calls, and forums, all of which would have different replacements.

That's way too fancy for irc, but good idea! I will think about how to do that. Would a single still pic be useful?
It's common to stream gameplay to friends during a voice call. Sharing a single image doesn't really compare
OK I dug into this. It appears this is most easily accomplished with Matrix, as it allows many-to-many audio chats. I asked for a quote. ;P

That's fine for some folks, but i game with friends a lot. So far discord is the easiest for that. Been researching alternatives for a bit and might go back Mumble, though
We have a signal group in my game group. Works really well.
