Yep. Kill a hundred thousand people, take a big shit in the middle of the country, run away, and then spend the next twenty years fighting the "terrorists" that have a problem with it. Only costs about ten thousand of America's biggest losers and the rich get richer.
That's a different operation, though. At least for now USA's behaviour is more akin to what they did in Iran than Iraq or Afghanistan.
The difference to the mayhem they caused in Iran is that here USA wouldn't need to worry about implanting a successor.

True, but the chaos is coming anyway. The earlier it begins, the less destructive it will be.
In Putin's case they don't need to. There are competent people around who will be able to handle that. Moscow isn't that far from the border of civilization.
