White messiah movie vs white messiah movie
Dune is not a white savior story though, and neither is Dune Messiah (which Frank Herbert wrote in part to make that message as clear as possible). While Paul is trying to be a savior figure, he's using everyone for his own ends the entire time. The top comment on this wonderful video says it best:
Dune isn't exactly a messiah movie, although it's literally based on the book Dune Messiah.
The white man comes to the brown people to be their God. It's literally a white messiah book/movie.
Wow, a true Lemmy wooosh moment. I think you missed the point of, well, the movie
I mean, the whole thing is meant to be a cautionary tale rather than a feel good movie. It's an anti white messiah movie. But yeah I guess technically it is about a white messiah, so you're not wrong, but real weird to refer to it that way
