Ask Lemmy
A Fediverse community for open-ended, thought provoking questions
Rules: (interactive)
1) Be nice and; have fun
Doxxing, trolling, sealioning, racism, and toxicity are not welcomed in AskLemmy. Remember what your mother said: if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all. In addition, the site-wide Lemmy.world terms of service also apply here. Please familiarize yourself with them
2) All posts must end with a '?'
This is sort of like Jeopardy. Please phrase all post titles in the form of a proper question ending with ?
3) No spam
Please do not flood the community with nonsense. Actual suspected spammers will be banned on site. No astroturfing.
4) NSFW is okay, within reason
Just remember to tag posts with either a content warning or a [NSFW] tag. Overtly sexual posts are not allowed, please direct them to either !asklemmyafterdark@lemmy.world or !asklemmynsfw@lemmynsfw.com.
NSFW comments should be restricted to posts tagged [NSFW].
5) This is not a support community.
It is not a place for 'how do I?', type questions.
If you have any questions regarding the site itself or would like to report a community, please direct them to Lemmy.world Support or email info@lemmy.world. For other questions check our partnered communities list, or use the search function.
6) No US Politics.
Please don't post about current US Politics. If you need to do this, try !politicaldiscussion@lemmy.world or !askusa@discuss.online
Reminder: The terms of service apply here too.

I've never been to one, even though I should've probably been sent to one like 4 times at this point. I do however, know people that have been sent. It's not very fun. They confiscate all your stuff that you have on you, I believe. No access to your phone. It's boring, but you'll live. Making friends helps. Best of luck if you do get sent.
I'm gonna try to lie to my psychiatrist and avoid having my mom remembering to book a consultation as max as I can.
I guess I'm better off having fun at home but around a shitty family.
I think you should try writing poetry, could be therapeutic. At least it is for me, sort of...
Depends, but lying to your psychiatrist helps. If you don't mind me asking, what did you get caught doing? I understand if you don't feel like telling some internet random, you probably shouldn't, but the answer does probably make quite a difference for the answer's accuracy.
Two suicide attempts by overdose. My mom found the second out by missing pills. She's too busy to talk to a psychiatrist, though, and I hope she forgwts it.
If she's even half decent as a parent, she won't forget. I got away with lying about cutting myself, because I only did it once (for fun if you can believe it) and I'm never doing it again. Honestly, if I didn't have my experiences, I'd probably send you to get help as well. But, I do know that they don't really help a lot of the time. If I were you, I'd tell my friends about where you're going to be, prepare for it mentally, and make the most of the time you spend there. Best of luck.
