The movie 'Her' came out in 2013.
A quick search says that over half the population has had some kind of 'intimate' conversation with an AI in 2025.
Over half the population? Doesn't honestly sound right at all. If you had said 30% I would've still had my doubts. In any case this clearly isn't a worldwide thing because huge swaths of developing countries would not even have access to an LLM.
Maybe they're counting all the times people told Alexa/Siri, etc to go fuck themselves?

I'm extremely skeptical of AI claims considering it's all a ploy for AI companies to secure more funding
according to 2 of the first results on duckduckgo, 68% of the world uses the internet
half of the population would be 74% of the internet users.
other than a website saying that 97% of internet users use AI daily(generative AI, not using the broad definition), i could not find any number that would come close to the required 74% that, assuming 100% of generative AI users are using it for that kind of conversations, would make that statistic accurate
