Developers of apps that use end-to-end encryption to protect private communications could be considered hostile actors in the UK.

Yes but you can't always disconnect. For instance, my healthcare provider requires in order to access your account you:

  1. Get an ID card with Google or Apple Wallet, which I don't have.
  2. Verify over text message, except they refuse my phone # bc it's VoIP.

I will quite literally die without this so I had to get a new phone and a Google account.
