When this stuff converges with more efficiency (quantum computing?), I wonder if the diminishing returns will be less an issue. The sheer amount of power needed to...power these ML/LLM things is staggering, though. Just a couple years ago we were worried about the environmental costs of crypto mining. LLM's put that to shame.
