Absolutely not. Having to have a cellphone is a barrier. Having to have a specific app downloaded and actively doing Bluetooth work is a huge barrier.
Interesting solution, in theory, super shitty practically.

Also, imagine how insane it would be if a bear was following you and you couldn’t get in the door because you forgot or dropped your phone.

But even without the app, the doors have touch switches and are still relatively easy to open. I suppose a bear could hit the touch switch too, but it’s still a much bigger hurdle than conventional automatic doors.

There is significant overlap between the smartest bears and the dumbest humans.

That line is in relation to locking dumpsters, but applies here, too.
