I am apparently on the University of Tasmania 'Roll of Excellence' for my results in the Diploma of Sustainable Living. I did not know such a thing existed and doubt it will have any impact on anything, but I guess it's a nice thing to know.

I got a 1st place ribbon for walking in Year 7 athletics. I actually came last but was the only girl in my house, so I had no competition.

That sounds like my Year 9 hurdles win. I came third. There were four people running, but one got disqualified for being in the wrong age group. That was the only award for athletics I ever received.

Well done, I'm proud of you! I assume this features prominently in your resume?

For the photo I have me n the Mayor of Bentleigh, from the school that Kennet closed.

Very fancy. My High School got closed too, although I don't know who was responsible for it. The site is now a community centre and dog park, so I've been able to take Mr Woof there to take a dump on the place.

That sounds like an interesting diploma to have! Is it related to your field of work?

[โ€“] RustyRaven@aussie.zone 3 points 4 days ago

Not related to my work at all. It is primarily aimed at sustainability in your own life and community, although there are also some more scientific subjects available in things like climate change. I've done subjects about gardening, home and landscape design for climate, increasing biodiversity and preparing for bushfires. It's been very interesting. It's also free under a HECS waiver, so you use the govt. credits towards the course but don't pay anything yourself. If you are wanting to go on to do study in that area it would be a good option and some of the subjects can be used for credits towards a bachelor degree.

Someone on the Melbourne Reddit sub mentioned doing it and I'm glad they did, I got a bit over it by the end but it has been good to do. (so thanks to the Reddit user from three years ago whose name always reminded me of 5sos but was actually something else)
