On the one hand I like and respect Gabe for staying relatively down to Earth.

But on the other Steam is the DRM that prevents people from owning what they bought and the dude has a fricking yacht. "But he eaaarned it waaah", yeah, and how did he earn it? I refer you back to the previous point.

Games that dont use steam features (like steams multiplayer) arent required to use DRM (so games like Celeste still work without steam)

I think there are way worse things he has done/allowed than DRM

relatively down to Earth
Billionaire

… Say that again.

[–] scintilla@crust.piefed.social 3 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Do you know what the word relatively means?

[–] AntiBullyRanger@ani.social 1 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

Entertain me your definition on how a billionaire relatively humbles themselves “down to Earth.

[–] scintilla@crust.piefed.social 5 points 2 days ago (2 children)

What kind of garbage definition is that lmao. Not your fault I know you didn't write the fucking dictionary but what the hell. Here is one that doesn't use its own fucking root to define itself.

If you click into it and read right through, you may find it a more sensible and robust definition than the cambridge one with all its "gooder" and "badder". ;)

Neither are great though.

Definition 2 is the closest to the way that relatively is used in most speech and it still uses "relation" in its definition. I don't love the Cambridge one but it is better than the MW one.

… So, what are you trying to compare here?
I am aware you're not palordrolap@fedia.io

Oh shit you weren't just being an asshole throwing out definitions to prove a point, my bad for assuming the worst.

He [Gabe] is relatively [in comparison to other billionaires] down to earth.

Its not a high bar but he does pass it especially if you're only comparing to the more well known billionaires.

Some people can and have interpreted me calling their source bad a personal call out. I've done that before, honestly it's not a great thing to do but emotions exist.

  1. Why do folks assume I want to be an asshole in a community created to be silly and merry‽

I am an anarchist, for goodness gracious. I initialize all my conversations in neutrality until proven otherwise.

When I am in this community, I comprehend folks come here jovially, with the intent to entertain.

He [Gabe] is relatively [in comparison to other billionaires] down to earth.

Yeah HOW? He is a scumbag authoritarian. He sents talent to deathcamps. He drowns people in the Pacific. HOW does that compare to other “down to Earth” bourgeois oppressors?

Of ALL the billionaires in the world, Gabe Newell is possibly the least egregious.

That said. He's going to the guillotine with the rest of them.
