Using "them" instead of being precise, leaves who the party tracking you is up to the imagination of the reader, which in turn just makes it sound paranoid.
How did the Firefox devs come up with "let's not ask our users where they are, and just track them without asking them first."?
I think it's pretty clear in this case that the FIREFOX code sending a geo-IP request to MOZILLA'S SERVERS was being used by FIREFOX.
And if not, then skill issue.
Not for nothing, but you can't dictate how communication is interpreted by the recipient. And if you're wondering what I mean by that remark I'll refer you to consult the votes.
