That is sobering.
But it sounds like that report / wargame is from the Biden administration, so it could be up to 4 years old. Even so, politically, it is questionable whether US would come to the aid of Taiwan, regardless of the military balance.
The american military isn't made to fight wars, but to be welfare for shareholders. What little competency it retained is being dismantled under the trump admin as they disrespect logistics in favor of machismo and saw off their barrels to fight in american cities.
Not that they had a great record of winning wars before, but the US military is not in good shape.
