Pretty regular shave. Tried my left hand a bit more and it went quite decently. Not as good as my right hand yet of course.
My Koraat was getting dull and I honed it on my Shapton 0.85 micron stone and looked at it with magnifying glass. The whole edge looked shiny expect the very apex where it looked dark. I have seen this earlier. I thought I was not hitting the apex but now I thought maybe it's a burr. So I stropped it on fine paste but with the spine a little bit up, very light pressure. The apex seems much shinier. I then stropped it normally on paste and on plain leather and now it does do the hanging hair test which it didn't before. So I think I'm an idiot that has been shaving with a razor with a burr ๐ . I'm not getting a burr on my other razor when I hone. I'll see next shave how the new edge feels. I also tightened the scales on the Koraat with a small hammer and anvil. It's much easier to strop the thing when the handle doesn't fly around every time you turn around on the strop. Also should have done that a bit earlier ๐ .
My Koraat does the same thing. It's floppy during the first 20-30 degrees when you open it, and gets a bit better when it's fully open. That's a good reminder, actually... I'm headed to the hardware store for something unrelated, but I'll add a ball-peen hammer to my list.
Interesting, I thought it was just mine. Mine was still floppy when open but it gets better as I open it indeed.
