Is this a product of people switching to VPN because of age verification laws?

It depends on how they're fingerprinting the OS.

If it's by inspecting TCP connection behaviors, a VPN could influence that.

If it's by reading the user agent, that's a self-reported statistic. A VPN alone wouldn't influence that. A bunch of bots scraping for porn videos to use as generative AI training and lying about what they are, on the other hand, would.
