I love this timeline ... let's build a neurochip to interface with the human brain ... so that we can make more money

What could go wrong?

Honestly, Gabe's probably doing it because he wants one for himself (and doesn't trust fucking Elon to do it). That's a lot of what powers his decisions. That's how we ended up with the steam deck too.

Medtronics has been trying to implant devices into brains for decades and they all fail because they move, the human brain has the consistency of a firm custard.

Just secure it with a wire that anchors onto two opposing surfaces of the dura mater... duh!

My favourite description of the human brain is that since it is mostly made of fat ... it is the consistancy of soggy raw bacon

I don't think it's about making more money, it's more like something to do with your money if you're a billionaire.

We could potentially achieve immortality by researching neuron function and medical tech until we can protect neurons and their functionality perfectly. And if a person isn't living long enough to see that, it might be worth just trying to transfer your mind into a cyber world and hoping your real "soul" carries over to a computer mind without your body. I'd prefer that over having no options if I was dying.

I don't like to think about this, but I have more thoughts, so I'll type them.

We live in a world where a lot of poor people are going to be dying in wars and stuff because people are obsessed with having kids. If you're a billionaire trying to live forever, it's nice to have a tech everyone can at least try to use while continuing to have kids and have their real bodies die if they want to do that, instead of having a weird global religious war over who should get to be immortal and/or who should get to decide who gets to have kids when people don't want to die to make room for them.

Overused my brain's capacity to think about this for now. I miss Digit.
