That's new to me. I just know that asbestos is used as thermal isolation, this sitting right in the middle of the wall sandwiched in between 2 drywall sheets.

Asbestos was used in absolutely everything back then as it was cheap, plentiful, easy to work with and possess some great properties. If it wasn’t for the dangers we would still be using it.
