whoops no this is UC Davis in 2011. the cop pepper spraying these nonviolent student protestors filed for worker's compensation claiming "psychiatric damage" due to having his name released and won more than $38k USD in compensation.

Making a defense of an authoritarian regime, as so many CCP apologists in this thread have done, is no way to begin anyone's path leftwards.
The CCP is communist in name only, not in operation.
Look man, I didn't pull out the "China boogieman"; OP did in the title.
If you genuinely believe that the CCP is not that bad, and is actually running a functionally communist government, then you are way more ignorant than you are implying that I am. You have no idea what an oppressive authoritarian regime actually looks like in practice.
