I mean I'm on the left and even I'm getting tired of hearing how all men are trash, which seems to be the only message about men I hear. Young men are only being courted by the right, and the left doesn't seem to care or even seems proud about it.

[–] CXORA@aussie.zone 14 points 1 week ago (3 children)

Where the hell are you hearing this? Genuinely, i have not encounteted this perspective for years now, so the fact you consider it the only perspective on the left feels crazy

[–] GaMEChld@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago

Some feminists are not shy about their misandry: https://youtube.com/shorts/fpEjHCW-lLk

That was on network television, just laughing away tee hee oblivious.

And surely you heard about that man vs bear crap that went viral. It's a thousand cuts not any one thing. There's a whole generation of young guys who are growing up in a world telling them that they are privileged oppressors when in reality they have nothing and no one and didn't do anything.

[–] vga@sopuli.xyz 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Frankly, I haven't been hearing it so much as I have been experiencing it.

[–] CXORA@aussie.zone 1 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Well, "where" is still the salient question there.

[–] TubularTittyFrog@lemmy.world 5 points 1 week ago (1 children)

i've experienced in ni college, community groups, and other leftist spaces. also from my liberall/left-wing girlfriends.

i don't expereince it at my workplace, in my family, or in more conservtaive spaces. never experienced it from a moderate/right-wing girlfriend.2

weird how that works, right?

[–] CXORA@aussie.zone 4 points 1 week ago

Im so sorry that happened to you.

[–] madcaesar@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Look at society, look as tv ads, look at movies, look at tv shows. Who's always the moron dad? Who's always the asshole villain? Who's always a perfect girl boss putting the guy in his place?

When have you seen a recent female action lead that wasn't just a Marry Sue owning her male counterpart? Who are the GOOD male, masculine role models?

Women objectified in movies? How dare you! Men being objectives and haha funny!

I know it might seem silly to you and petty, but young man are constantly being put down and being told to shut up.

Meanwhile it's still cool / funny to make fun of men being raped in prison. Men even voicing concerns about the fact that they are losing out are being told suck it up, you've had a good run!

I just feel like liberals and modern culture has completely abandoned catering to men. Again that doesn't mean supporting rapists like Trump, but does mean having real, masculine, capable, heroic men that young boys and men can look up to.

[–] CXORA@aussie.zone 0 points 1 week ago

So your answer is wholly relegated to TV stetptypyes, or isnthere another factor here?

[–] Madzielle@lemmy.dbzer0.com 12 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I love men. Men are awesome <3

[–] GaMEChld@lemmy.world 5 points 1 week ago

And you are awesome! Rock on!

[–] Jaysyn@lemmy.world 9 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

That's because you're relentlessly being propagandized by corporate social media, and falling for exactly what they want you to fall for.

Turn that shit off. You don't need it & you're happier without it.

[–] GaMEChld@lemmy.world 5 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Yeah, that'll stop the pipeline of young men being funneled to the right. Me pretending it's not happening!

[–] TubularTittyFrog@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

yeah but if you did you could sit around feeling smug and self righteous about how superior you are while telling everyone else who isn't like you how stupid and awful they are. wouldn't that be grand?

[–] GaMEChld@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

Did you just show me the path to real ultimate power?!

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 8 points 1 week ago (2 children)

probably a lot of genz showed a signicant shift towards right wing , most likely has to do with right wing pundits, like j peterson, joe roegans, TPUSA,,,etc.

[–] WorldsDumbestMan@lemmy.today 5 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Let me remind you that they are simply left to sink or swim in a survival situation where the world seems to want them dead.

My own mind goes to eugenicy places when I realize what world we live on.

[–] Madzielle@lemmy.dbzer0.com 6 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I was left on the street for dead at 17.

Radicalized me to the left, not the right, but of course I was that age during occupy wall st.

It's the goddamn right wing influencers, and parents not supporting thier young adult children while they've already had unrestricted internet acess since they were little. "The world wants them dead" the world wants me dead too.

It's hard to understand for me, the boys in my family were always allowed more freedom, more choice, less responsibility. Three generations it was like that. The mother's love their son's, hate their daughters. The father's teach thier son's, and rape thier daughters, and love no one, not even themselves.

Three generations of that in my family. It's so hard to empathize, "the world wants them dead". Better dead than you father's slave, trust. That's why I hit the street.

[–] WorldsDumbestMan@lemmy.today 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

You are just proving my point, really. We created a hostile world where the fittest, and most entrenched thrive, where compassion is punished, and there is little reason to help others, who then turn out to just be more predators.

The solution: stop depending on the classic system, and build communities. Share crops, sell products as a community, pull each-other up. Nothing else will spite TPTB more.

[–] Madzielle@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

Good, My intention was to help prove the point.

It's fucked for everyone not born into wealth.

Teach your kids, teach your people, that helping is good, and being kind makes a good person. One must do the right thing, even when no one is looking, especially when no one is looking, without reward. Be radical.

Give more than you receive, never take more than you need. I really like to believe there are more good folks than bad, we need to collaborate together. Theres no choice but to do so or suffer.

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 2 points 1 week ago

HS grade school has largely degenerated to babysitting young children not even teens. r/teacher catches my eye from time to time.

[–] GaMEChld@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

That's kinda my point. The right is the only one courting them. Who are the equivalents on the left and what is their message to young men?

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 1 points 1 week ago

its very easy to do when its based on hate, and blame deflection. also as a way to not admit they have been putting down women for generations. at least in academia, the younger women generation are getting a huge leg up in colleges in various forms for certain fields. not all women though, older than gen-z dont have that advantage.

its pretty intentional that men are left to fend for themselves, in that they need people to do low wage , and men-only jobs like military, dangerous jobs

[–] fodor@lemmy.zip 2 points 1 week ago (3 children)

I've never in my entire life heard a single person say that all men are trash. I think you're either lying or exaggerating, and you haven't either.

Pointing out that some men do horrible things is a common observation. Asking that men stop other men from doing bad things is another thing that could sounds burdensome. I can see how these types of statements might upset you if you're missing the context or the speaker is unclear. But neither of them is equivalent to saying that all men are trash.

[–] calcopiritus@lemmy.world 15 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I didn't have that experience, therefore you are lieing.

Wonder why men are turning away

[–] TubularTittyFrog@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago

the irony is so much of this disoc2urse parallels the rape discourse.

'well i haven't been raped so if you got raped it is your fault or your lying' ' well i don't experience misogyny, so therefore nobody hates women ever and you are making it up'

the pushback is always of the form 'why is that that women get raped' it's that 'if you got raped its your fault and maybe you shouldn't wear provocative clothing or drink or go out at night'

just like here it's not 'why are men voting right' it's 'if men are unhappy and vote right they should be even unhappier and be punished'

[–] GaMEChld@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Here, this was on network television: https://youtube.com/shorts/fpEjHCW-lLk

Then you had the whole man vs bear shit that went viral.

Maybe actually look instead of burying your head in sand and calling people liars. Now go move some goal posts.

[–] fodor@lemmy.zip 1 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Exactly. The bear thing showed that many women think that the average bear is less risky than the average man under certain circumstances. It has nothing to do with all men or all bears…

In other words, it shows that you can ignore the words and play the victim if you like, but it doesn’t stand up to careful scrutiny.

[–] GaMEChld@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

Or maybe it's hyperbolic nonsense with no actual logic applied. I don't see women at zoos diving into bear enclosures when strange men pass by.

Careful scrutiny seems to indicate it's a stupid statement uttered by hysterical idiots.

[–] Auth@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

If you havent heard this you live under a rock.
