A place to meme about the glorious ROMAN EMPIRE (and Roman Republic, and Roman Kingdom)! Byzantines tolerated! The HRE is not.

RULES:

  1. No racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, bigotry, etc. The past may be bigoted, but we are not.

  2. Memes must be Rome-related, not just the title. It can be about Rome, or using Roman aesthetics, or both, but the meme itself needs to have Roman themes.

Explanation: Octavian, later the Emperor Augustus, had a tendency to miss or be out of command for major battles. He was a sickly lil' guy and usually wore a sunhat when outside. During one of the final battles of Julius Caesar's civil war, he was too sick to attend (I am sure he had a doctor's note). During one of the most important naval battles of his life, the Battle of Naulochus, he sent his right-hand man and best friend, Agrippa, to fight while he remained on shore.

Later, he personally intervened to spend an enormous sum on a raven that could say "Hail Caesar!" Which, tbf, is pretty fuckin' cool.

IDK shit about him, was it due to laziness or being a good delegator on things he knew shit about?

A good delegator. I have a generally negative view of Augustus as an authoritarian, but he was legitimately good at organizing people and recognizing talent.

... and good at propaganda, which is part of the reason why his name remains prestigious today.

For Augustus to have succeeded how he did with such a huge gap in his "Ancient Roman Leader" CV, the remaining skillset must have been truly next-level. Shame he was a prude with an authoritarian streak that would have made even his grand-uncle blush.

Augustus was an all-charisma build, lmao
