The recent D&D movie they made was good stuff. It was dumb in all the right ways and a ton of fun to watch.
I also like the idea of a totally new cast and crew. Getting kind of tired of "Kirk and Spock." It's the only reason I haven't started Strange New Worlds, though I want to and I will watch it eventually.
Discovery and Prodigy were cool because they took existing ideas and built out new stories. They weren't always great, but they were always fun, and we got to know some awesome new characters.
I want to see Zachary Quinto come back, but I wonder if they will recast him as someone else after he was Spock in three movies. He is my favourite of the new Trek actors (post TNG/VOY), though I first saw him as Sylar on Heroes.
I don't love how they take 1960s Trek and make it look modern. I loved the practical effects of the original Trek, and I think if they want to make modern starships, they should set them further in the future. The 2009 Trek film and its sequel were cool, especially being "Kirk and Spock in an alternate universe, with calls back to Nimoy's Spock," but old ships looking newer than newer ships doesn't sit right with me. I also think they could respect the old ships in a more modern setting. DS9 did this with "Trials and Tribble-ations" (the TOS crossover episode, I think I got the name right) and Picard did it in the third season with (spoilers, but you can guess, even if you haven't seen it).
