Self-reliance has been a cornerstone of Chinese policymaking not just under Xi Jinping, the country’s top leader since 2012, but also under his predecessor, Hu Jintao.

“We must first and foremost intensify efforts toward achieving greater self-reliance and strength in science and technology,” Mr. Xi said in a speech.

You don't need charts or numbers to see that though. China went from one of poorest nations to one of the richest and unlike many West countries that wealth was shared with the population.

While China is far from perfect, nobody can dispute that their rapid industrialization was a huge success which improved the life of more than a billion people. Just look at the satellite images from 1990s versus now and compare.

Suddenly they are no longer unhappy… or in existence.

Sounds like universal problem. John Barnett? Jeffrey Epstein?

I don’t think comparing Epstein to someone who is poor, on the street, and cursing the government is a very nice thing to do. Also, John Barnett was killed by Boeing. I wouldn’t be surprised if some sort of government defense fund could be tied to that, but even I think that would be speculation.

As we all very much know, as long as we are not shilling, the wealth of a nation does not at all mean they take care of their people. When you get back from Capitalist China, you can share with me the photos of all the well funded homeless shelters and the videos of the interviews you do with actual people… But until then it sounds like you just want to crush the west and praise China.

All government is corrupt. it doesn’t matter what country you are in, the people who have the short end of the stick get nothing.
