Progressive Politics

The long arc of history shows humanity IS progressing, the line goes up and down, and we're definitely experiencing a "down" at the moment, but over the large scale course we're nowhere close to where we came from. We are astonishingly lucky that we weren't born during the 99% of our history that was just brutal survival and small groups of families clinging to existence, being killed by rivals or eaten by horrific monsters in the darkness, or the innumerably vast number of farmers and peasants who had to basically take into account how many of their families would be murdered, raped or starved to death by roving brigands and raiders.

Trumps and the people like him rise from time to time and spit in our faces, but they are all mortal and all pass. Small groups take the best lessons forward because those lessons work and lead to better outcomes. A new dawn shines on the survivors and those who can adapt.
