A "Showerthought" is a simple term used to describe the thoughts that pop into your head while you're doing everyday things like taking a shower, driving, or just daydreaming. The most popular seem to be lighthearted clever little truths, hidden in daily life.
Here are some examples to inspire your own showerthoughts:
- Both “200” and “160” are 2 minutes in microwave math
- When you’re a kid, you don’t realize you’re also watching your mom and dad grow up.
- More dreams have been destroyed by alarm clocks than anything else
Rules
- All posts must be showerthoughts
- The entire showerthought must be in the title
- No politics
- If your topic is in a grey area, please phrase it to emphasize the fascinating aspects, not the dramatic aspects. You can do this by avoiding overly politicized terms such as "capitalism" and "communism". If you must make comparisons, you can say something is different without saying something is better/worse.
- A good place for politics is c/politicaldiscussion
- Posts must be original/unique
- Adhere to Lemmy's Code of Conduct and the TOS
If you made it this far, showerthoughts is accepting new mods. This community is generally tame so its not a lot of work, but having a few more mods would help reports get addressed a little sooner.
Whats it like to be a mod? Reports just show up as messages in your Lemmy inbox, and if a different mod has already addressed the report, the message goes away and you never worry about it.

Riiight. Of course.
If cars weren't all they were cracked up be they wouldn't be shoving them in your face.
If credit cards weren't all they were cracked up be they wouldn't be shoving them in your face.
If breakfast cereal weren't all they were cracked up be they wouldn't be shoving them in your face.
What a weird of saying you don't know how marketing works.
No, those are specific brands trying to get you to buy their brand. Honda wants to you buy a Honda. Ford wants you to buy a Ford. No one is trying to push cars as a whole on you.
I don't disagree its just my 1st thought was that was the industry that is accused of sabotaging public transit train system to get you to buy more cars in California. Really hoping they dont pull the same stunt by like removing word check and forcing you to talk to AI.
Funny how all the things you listed aren't "all they were cracked up to be" either.
I disagree regardless.
When I go on a bike ride, I don't constantly have people pulling beside me reminding that I could be driving in a car.
When I use cash, the person taking it does not remind me that I could have used a credit card.
When I open a container of oatmeal, there isn't a little piece of paper that springs out and reminds me I could be eating instantly ready breakfast cereal instead.
You guys have really weird ways of indicating you don't know what marketing is.
I recommend to start with the Wikipedia page and move on.
Cracked up be they. What a weird of saying. Fuck off clankers
