Two wrongs don't make a right.

Brother LOL I don't understand why you're telling me this when you're the one talking about TPM and CPU. Of course they don't. I'm just pointing out why many many people choose to use Windows instead of Mac.

That said, Apple supports their phones longer than anyone else has to date.

We weren't talking about phones. But since we are now, software support is meaningless when the hardware is completely irreparable.

So Microsoft and Google do the same stuff as Apple, but for some reason Apple's the only one guilty of planned obsolescence?

BTW I mentioned phones because you said "devices"

They don't. Not even close.

for some reason Apple's the only one guilty of planned obsolescence?

Who told you that?

Microsoft's own Surface devices are among the least repairable on the planet. And Google has a browser and search monopoly, and almost all of their hardware is disposable once they get bored with it.

I don't think you know much about Apple's reputation for repairability. Because they're definitely not.

And Google has a browser and search monopoly

Okay so you're just taking this opportunity to air whatever grievances come across your mind?

I said that Microsoft and Google are guilty of the same stuff as Apple. You said they don't. So I provided examples.

Apple is the only one that gets the blame on the Internet, especially here in the Fediverse, but they're all guilty.

Once again, you are misinterpreting my statements. They're all guilty, Apple is just by far and away the absolute worst. No one else invents new screws for the explicit purpose of keeping consumers out. No one else has contracts with their suppliers that forbid them from selling to anyone else. No one else serializes components so that even if you install the exact same components from a donor board, they still won't work.

[–] danielton1@lemmy.world 0 points 1 week ago (1 children)

They're ALL doing ALL of it. Microsoft's Surface laptops and tablets are even less repairable than iPads and MacBooks, and Google's devices become paperweights as soon as they get bored (and they WILL get bored... see the size of the Google Graveyard).

Arguing over which one is the worst offender ignores the bigger picture and will lead to things continuing to get worse.

You keep ignoring every single example I've given you by saying it doesn't matter because Apple.

[–] artyom@piefed.social -1 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

Naming random products and services is not the same thing as giving an example. Meanwhile I've given several examples of exactly how Apple is worse, which you've not addressed at all.
