For context, this popped up as I went to the youtube homepage. This is absurd. Of course, I have uBlock Origin, so it doesn't matter to me regardless, but there's no way to say no.

That's your notification to update uBlock Origin.

No worries! uBlock Origin is still making sure no ads are actually being shown, regardless of if I tell it to remind me in a week or give it my data. But I've never seen this popup before, on any social media platform, I'm very curious if they'll actually ask me again in a week.

If you let the folks know at the uBlock Reddit they will eventually make sure you never see it again. I wish they had a Fediverse presence.

Hey can you remind me how to get ublock origin? I used it years ago but between getting different phones and mandatory software updates, it always gets lost so I don't remember how I got it. Is it only available on a certain browser? I'm currently using Vivaldi browser for some reason because some tech savvy person recommended it.

Depends on different devices. On iphones and chrome based browsers (like vivaldi), you can't really install ublock origin. You need to use firefox or a phone browser that already has adblocking functionality like duckduckgo browser or brave. If you're on android then the firefox app can install the ublock origin extension.

Okay I'll go back to using firefox. Yes I'm an Android girl.

For basically anything pro-privacy, Firefox (edit: or derivatives) is the way to go.

vivaldi is chromium-based. therefore uBo does not exist.

i, therefore, recommend floorp browser. it has a lot of features like vivaldi, but it's based on firefox. so uBo (and a bunch of other great extensions google hate) DOES exist.

if you want, you can keep using the builtin adblocker of vivaldi. but keep in mind it's nowhere close to uBo.

(uBo=uBlock Origin)
