As you all know I'm very proud of the system I built that automatically formats, posts, and then cross-posts Shave of the Day's starting in the Shaving Data System. With the click of a button users can log their SOTD for future filtering and data crunching, post to PieFed/Lemmy, and then have their post automatically posted to the Zulip chat.

Until now there have been some bugs... very time consuming bugs! I finally figured out that by sending the SOTD text via curl using a text file solves all of my problems, as opposed to sending it all as a string. Sending it as a string was problematic because if a person's SOTD post contained a character that curl processes as a data break (for lack of a better term), curl would stop there and ignore the rest of the post. Characters like ", ', etc are very common and caused problems.

So anyway, I think it's all finally fixed and working nicely, and it excites me more than you can imagine! It's a good thing my day job doesn't involve any sort of computer logic like programming or something. I'd go nuts!
