October 21st, 2025: Tabac Tuesday
I picked up this puck of Tabac on a recent trip to Belgium. It was sorta fun being able to buy it in a regular store.
I also have the tallow version of this soap and have been very curious to test out the difference myself. I haven't used the tallow version since August, but maybe I'll use it tomorrow to see how much of a difference there really is.
Worth mentioning that I heard recently there are now 2 different versions of the vegan soap. This is the most recent iteration, with ingredients as follows:
Ingredients: Potassium Stearate, Sodium Stearate, Potassium Laurate, Sodium Laurate, Aqua, Glycerin, Parfum, Palm Kernel Acid, Sodium Palm Kernelate, Potassium Palm Kernelate, Limonene, Hydroxycitronellal, CI 77891, Linalool, Citronellol, Coumarin, Alpha-Isomethyl Ionone, Benzyl Salicylate, Geraniol, Cinnamyl Alcohol, Isoeugenol, Benzyl Alcohol, Citral, Eugenol, Tetrasodium Etidronate, Tetrasodium Iminodisuccinate.
I thought the soap was great! I made sure to load plenty of soap, as it's relatively firm. I like to load dry (damp, really) and heavy and it works for pretty much all soaps. The lather wasn't fluffy, foamy, etc. It was nice, creamy, relatively dense. Slickness was totally acceptable.
One other thing I noticed was that when rinsing my face, my skin was squeaky clean. Apparently not an indicator of it being drying, because my skin feels totally normal now.
Verdict? Still worth trying in my opinion, and if you like the scent of Tabac (who doesn't?!) and need a refill, I say go for it.
I don't need a refill - but I have the impression that the vegan formula improves with time, so probably no harm in waiting
