Explanation: An opinion of dubious worth one sometimes sees is regarding military technology - asserting that only the simplest military panoplies and traditional approaches to warfare are worthwhile, with various... likewise dubious arguments in support of it. This is highlighting the absurdity by applying the arguments to Ancient Rome.
