I am bumping this old thread... Dish soap would likely work

I have been using Dawn Power Wash

I spray it on pretty heavy and then rub it in with a rag.

After that I wash the chain off with water... and rub it with a rag more

Finally its just a matter of blow drying or letting the chain dry and then re greasing

This is a method I have been using for the past month or so and I have found it strips the chain pretty well without much effort
