Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

Humphreys County Sheriff Chris Davis said during a Saturday press conference there are believed to be “no survivors” from Friday’s powerful explosion at the Accurate Energetic Systems facility in Tennessee. He did not confirm how many fatalities there were, but he previously said 18 people were missing on Friday.

Accurate Energetic Systems specializes in the "development, manufacture, handling, and storage of a diverse array of energetic products and explosives for military, aerospace, and commercial demolition markets," according to its website. The Associated Press reported that the company has sold to and had been awarded military contracts with the U.S. Army and Navy.

The powerful explosion at the facility occurred early Friday around 7:45 am local time, and was felt more than 15 miles away.

And replace this civilization with what?

If you think the USA has no right to exist then neither does any other country on the planet. They all have bloody pasts.

Exactly! 🏴🏴🏴🏴🏴

They all have bloody pasts.

Yeah but the United States has a particularly influential bloody past, and a bloody present and future. I.e. the United States is the most dangerous enemy of humanity in recent memory, for example the Indigenous genocide, structuring an entire society around white supremacy, American imperalism and war all around the world, the climate catastrophe we are forcing upon the world, and the cyberpunk technofeudalist dystopia our tech bros are forcing all of humanity to submit to.

Yea either expected a anarchist or tankie reply lol

Anarchist are delusional kids who think everyone is going to magically work together.

I literally was spamming black flag (🏴) emojis, I literally have a Circle-A as the top banner on my profile, "anarchist" is the literal first word in my bio...of course I'm an anarchist 😆

Anarchist are delusional kids who think everyone is going to magically work together.

That assumption is neither sufficient nor necessary for anarchism to work. We don't need absolutely everyone to magically work together all the time. We can handle our disagreements without establishing systems of domination over others. If anything, these systems of domination simply amplify existing disagreements.

So when you have a "disagreement" and the other side says fuck you, what's your plan?

[–] PM_ME_VINTAGE_30S@lemmy.sdf.org -1 points 5 months ago* (last edited 5 months ago) (1 children)

Depends on the nature of the disagreement and the reasonability of the other side. Preferred solutions are, in decreasing order of preference:

  • Come to an agreement through compromise and debate
  • Proactively demonstrate why the other side is wrong by doing the thing and showing them why it works
  • Agree to disagree (i.e. tolerance of diversity)
  • Tell the other party to fuck off (i.e. freedom of dissociation)
  • Worst case scenario, the minimum defensive violence necessary to protect ourselves

We're at the bottom bullet point with respect to capitalists. We've been at the bottom point since capitalism was established, because it was established through violence and has been a continuous source of violence against humanity. But for most other problems, the other possibilities are better alternatives.

When push comes to shove we're just gonna have to play it by ear, as has always been the case, but anarchism provides a framework to rule out certain possibilities because they do not reflect the future we desire (i.e. prisons, police, states, standing armies, etc.) and therefore are ineffective methods for bringing about a liberatory future.

You're at the bottom, but don't want to be armed... I'll ask again how the fuck do you plan on telling the other party to fuck off if the other party is armed and you have just strong words...
