A disorder must either somehow negatively impact your activities of daily living like your job or staying out of prison, or causes significant distress. If you're explicitly making tons of legal money off your delusions, it's not a disorder.

He is half right but he forgot the "or negatively impact others' lives" half.
A narc doesn't care about others. Its their disorder.
When it comes to the DSM-V, that's how it works. You must have a functional impairment.

Only if it makes you unable to develop stable relationships. DSM doesn't pathologize being an asshole. That's normal human functioning.
This definition denies the existence of the functional disabled.

Primarily what I was saying is we should avoid thinking material conditions that create rational bad actors are pathologies or moral failings.
