The Nobel Peace Prize -once granted by a jury of scholars- has been given by politicians to other politicians for years now and has become just as worthless as you'd expect. Trump should definitely have one, just because he likes golden things so much. Maybe they should create a special category, the Trump Nobel Peace Prize, just as the economists did with their "Nobel prize" for economy (or whatever). The latter is not a Nobel prize at all, but who cares. Maybe put double gold on it or better put two medals and extra cheese in a burger roll. I bet Trump would like that,

Ah, the good old "Swedish Central Bank Prize For Economics In Honor Of Alfred Nobel", for which they use the shortname "Nobel Prize For Economics".

The whole thing neatly reflects the honesty of the profession.

But the prize in economics is awarded by the Nobel Foundation. It's a real Nobel prize, just not one of the original ones

It's only "real" if your definition of "Real NOBEL Prize" doesn't include NOBEL Prizes being set up by somebody called Alfred Nobel, which is kinda like calling a Theatre Play done by somebody working at the Shakespear Globe a "Shakespear Play".

You will noticed that modern plays in Shakespear style are called Shakespearian Plays, not Shakespear Plays.

All this neatly illustrates how the Theatre World is actually more genuine than the Economics World.

Yeah, I consider it real because they're administered by the Nobel Foundation. Nobel didn't set up any of the prizes himself - they were created after his death by the foundation set up to d execute his will.

Did Alfred Nobel leave explicit instructions in his will that the Foundation he created could create more Nobel prizes?

Because ultimatelly, it boils down to whether they were following his will or not.

Prediction: He loses this year and starts his own peace prize.

I was not aware that you could "lose" the Nobel Prize.

[–] jordanlund@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

He was nominated by multiple people and summarily rejected.

[–] b_tr3e@feddit.org 3 points 1 day ago

Hahaha. OK. That's indeed kind of losing it. Even if the Nobel Prize wasn't directly meant to be a competition.

Nah, one of his psycho followers with a tongue so far up his ass they can taste his boogers will create it for him, trying to suck up. Just like all the other absolutely insanely bizarre shit they’ve been saying/doing/trying for the last few months.
