I dunno man - I don’t think I care if the government steals my money in 5 minutes or 5 months
I used to flirt with accelerationism and shades of nihilism, existentialism. Though these days I tend to feel like those 5 months can make a big difference.
Retaliatory asset freezing has been on my mind for a while.
I think I’ve kinda come to the conclusion that unless I start moving gold overseas (which is shockingly impractical) it’s just one of those things that’s futile to worry about, so digital IDs just aren’t moving the needle of concern for me.
After I replied to you I did consider the 5 minutes vs 5 months proposition and from a practical perspective it really depends on whether it’s 5 months with foreknowledge or not. If I had a heads up, there is definitely some mattress stuffing options, that you wouldn’t get with 5 minutes.
All that being said I’m still really not convinced digital IDs is going to cause much difference. I’d have to know more about the particulars of an actual implementation.
