Risa: Your Home Away from Spacedock
Welcome to Risa
All the pleasure of shore leave, none of the holodeck glitches.
Rule 1 — Be Civil, Not Klingon
This is a vacation planet, not the neutral zone.
- No harassment, brigading, or trolling
- No bigotry
- Keep the banter playful, not hostile
Rule 2 — No Prohibited Cargo
Some things aren’t welcome aboard.
- No spam or scams
- No porn or sexually explicit content
- No illegal content
- NSFW memes must be properly tagged
Rule 3 — Keep It Trek
Posts should be Star Trek memes or Trek-adjacent humor.
- Crossovers are fine
- Low-effort “unrelated” memes may be spaced out the nearest airlock
Rule 4 — Gatekeeping Belongs in a Black Hole
You’re welcome to have your own opinions on what counts as “real” Star Trek but forcing your view on others or pretending it’s the only valid one? That’s not the Starfleet way.
Everyone’s Trek is valid, from TOS purists to Lower Decks shitposters, and you don't get to dictate what is real or not for everyone.
If you see a post that violates the rules, or that doesn't inspire Jamaharon, report it so the mods can handle it.
Otherwise grab a horga’hn, order a Risan Mai Tai, and enjoy your shore leave.

Joey has a point.
He really doesn't. Your opinion is not universal and not factual. Not everything revolves around what you like and things are allowed to change or expand in directions unexpected. As the title says...
Cope.
But Joey's opinion is.
But it isn't
Is so!
Look, I came here for an argument! This is just rote contradiction!
No, it isn't!
Yes it is!
I'm sorry, but I cannot continue arguing unless you pay for another half hour.
But I already did!
No, you didn't!
Look, I DID pay you for another half hour already!
Ah! But if you insist I didn't pay - how can you still argue with me?! You have to admit, I've got you there?!
I could be arguing in my spare time
(Best line of the entire sketch IMO 😄 ❤️)
(Agreed! 😆)
No. It isn't. And you're beginning to flirt with potentially violating the rules of the sidebar.
If you don't like the show that's fine. Phrase it like you don't like the show but you don't have a leg to stand on in claiming that any one show has ruined the series more than any other and nor do you in claiming some universal truth. Infinite Diversity in Infinite Combinations applies to the types of show too. Your opinion is not universal, Joeys is not universal, go cry about it.
I might be out of the loop here, but remon's comments read to me like very clear jokes. They never even specified what opinion they're arguing for, just the nebulous idea that "my opinion is the correct one". Without a specific viewpoint being advocated for, I find it very hard to read it as a sincere claim. (Even if there were a specific claim, it wouldn't rule out a joke...gods know I've done that plenty...but it would at least start being more likely to be sincere.)
You're the kind of person that make people react badly to the word "fandom".
No, that would be the people who insist on making the fandom exceptionally toxic by insisting their opinion is fact and dissuading new people from being engaged or making people feel like they can't share their opinion. Like I said, you're free to not like the show. I don't care about that. You're not free to dictate what is and isn't real Star Trek and who is and isn't a real Star Trek fan based on what they like. Also the last thing I'm commenting on this matter in this thread. Point has been made clear. If people don't like that then there are alternative Trek communities and they can feel free to make their own.
Sorry. You're trying to have a serious dialog, and most of us got caught up copying a Monty Python skit. Sorry. I...uh...can't promise it won't happen again, but I promise we're still growing as people.
Last word
Mod temper tantrum alert.
Someone makes an unfounded qualitative statement about something. That is inherently a personal opinion. Why does it need to be explicitly stated?
Question. Why do you think your opinion is better?
Did I miss the part where Stamets said their opinion was better?
I never claimed that mine was
Things are allowed to grow, but not change. You cant put flying saucers in lord of the rings. You cant make L word about straight couples. And you cant make a Star Trek movie for Star Wars fans, and expect Star Trek fans to like it, and not be insulted by it.
