Welcome to the News community!

Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

I hate the fact that the international community is just sitting by because it's an internal affair and only speaking up about trade issues, etc... That's what gave Nazi Germany carte blanche to do it's thing leading up to 39.

Every sane country on earth needs to be embargoing the fuck out of the U.S., not just for their own sake, but for the sake of forcing the American political establishment to deal with their own fascist problem or become a paraiah on the world stage.

Yeah but the problem is he didn't achieve power by some manipulation of the vote at least not primarily he achieved it by getting a bunch of Americans to vote for him. A bunch of stupid ignorant Americans wearing silly hats voted for him.

Shy of any evidence to say otherwise he is the democratically elected leader of the United States. All the countries can't be setting the precedent that if they don't like a particular leader they will assist in their downfall.

Besides if Europe playes it's cards right it's about to become the economic superpower of the world. The current economic superpower appears to be continuously blowing their own feet off and giggling.

Yeah. That's very true. I hadn't thought about it that way. Thanks for giving me something to think about.

Yeah, only we can do that.

I would be mightily surprised if our european brown noser in charge have plans for overtaking the USA. Maybe France, but Germany and UK looks like we can't even resist Trump a bit or the leading parties even try to emulate him. Which will lead to the same problems here. And afterwards everybody was in the resistance. Again.

1800 people have already been "lost track of" (read: murdered until proven otherwise) in the Everglades concentration camp.

That's because they're not willing to piss off Trump. He's unstable, belligerent, and hostile - all while commanding the world's largest military and that stupid tariff hammer. It's easier for them to look the other way the same as with the Gaza genocide. They might retroactively call it out when it no longer threatens backlash for them to do it.

If only the days of invading a fully militarized country were still on the table. You can't look at this like it's 1939. With nukes now being a thing no one wants to get involved because it will end in total destruction. America is over, a failed experiment in self governance. In all honesty USA should be broken up into 50 SEPERATE countries. There needs to be a plan in place for this to come to fruition, or its over for you guys. All of you seem to actively hate everyone else in your country.

More like 7-10 countries based on a combination of bioregions, cultural zones, and remaining indigenous communities. Many (most?) US states aren't developed or densely populated enough to function as independent nations as they currently exist.

I'd start with: Cascadia, California-Nevada, the Southwest (UT/CO/AZ/NM), the Midwest, Texas-Oklahoma, the Confederate States (minus Texas), Yankee (NY, NJ, PA), and New England.

[–] AA5B@lemmy.world 5 points 6 months ago

We (New England) will take the damn Yankees, so we’ll have our own southern yokels to look down on. Besides, the only important games in baseball are Red Sox vs Yankees: we’d have the entire major league (that anyone cares about). /s

balkanization is what its called, maybe not into 50 countries, but allies of the blue ones against the red ones.

[–] NikkiDimes@lemmy.world 1 points 6 months ago

I feel like the US did that once before 🤔
