Welcome to the discussion of US Politics!

Rules:

  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
  3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

My favorite part was when Hegseth talked about removing politics from the military, and then trump spent 20 minutes whining about politics.

Hegseth disrupted the lives of 800 highly educated military leaders to call them fat. 🤣

did you see how long they had to sit with his talk and trumps and the stupid music playing. well over two hours but how to say.

Humiliation ritual.

[–] massacre@lemmy.world 42 points 7 hours ago (3 children)

He meant remove Democrat politics, not GOP ones.

[–] TemplaerDude@sh.itjust.works 17 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

Exactly.

These scumbags talk one thing and do the opposite.

They deserve the gallows before they take the rest of that shit country down with them.

I'm afraid it's far too late for that. You think things are bad now? You just wait. Shit's gonna start getting extremely ugly when the massive house of cards that is the current US economy starts falling down - which I personally would normally peg to start happening in earnest by early next year, but with Trump deliberately destroying the very source that would let us all know the numbers behind what's actually going on in the economy all bets on timing are off. The longer it gets put off, the worse it's gonna be, however.

I’m just pulling for some Americans to do the right thing and start putting holes in these fascists. Doesn’t seem like it’s going to happen though, they’re happy just memeing their way to hell.

Unlike in the past, there are a million and one ways to avoid reality nowadays (heck, I'm doing so by spending time here). That, and the fact the bulk of the angry gun-owning types are on the MAGAt side of the isle. This crash is going to be like none before, so it's impossible to make predictions (beyond any obvious ones) on what will happen.

Only one thing has ever stopped fascists and Americans are a bunch of goddamn cowards.

While I agree we should be cautious and fight back, that's just not true. The Business Plot, for example, just sort of didn't happen and fizzled out. This isn't to imply nothing should be done, because we definitely need to work to ensure they don't achieve their goals, but Fascists have lost to less than bullets. This also isn't saying dead Fascists aren't desired. It's only stating that your comment isn't exactly accurate.

Saying the only way to fight back is by killing people leaves a whole lot of people doing nothing. There's a lot more you can do besides picking up a gun. Your message plays into their hands, not ours.

Just like Christian’s don’t consider Christianity anything besides “the truth” American conservatives/maga/gop also don’t think their political beliefs are political, just “common sense”

[–] Formfiller@lemmy.world 1 points 52 minutes ago

That’s because they have the IQ of sourdough starter

[–] SanctimoniousApe@lemmings.world 6 points 7 hours ago* (last edited 7 hours ago)

More like anything but MAGAt ones, with Cheeto Gawd at the center of everything.
