A place to meme about the glorious ROMAN EMPIRE (and Roman Republic, and Roman Kingdom)! Byzantines tolerated! The HRE is not.

RULES:

  1. No racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, bigotry, etc. The past may be bigoted, but we are not.

  2. Memes must be Rome-related, not just the title. It can be about Rome, or using Roman aesthetics, or both, but the meme itself needs to have Roman themes.

Explanation: Ancient Roman predecessors to modern pizza used pomegranate, amongst other fruits. Of course, such proto-'pizzas' lacked tomatoes (as tomatoes come from the Americas) and probably lacked mozzarella (as mozzarella is first mentioned during the Renaissance).

The busts are of Emperor Titus, partyboy, bicon, and general good fellow.

Interesting, I had always assumed pomegranates came from South America for some reason and were cultivated relatively recently, didn't realize they were from somewhere the Romans had access to

Comes from Iran! By Classical Antiquity it had spread to the Mediterranean; the Greek myth of Persephone's abduction involves her eating pomegranate seeds, even!

The fruit's name in Brazil is a bastardization of "fruit from Rome".

Pommegranates are the original "apples" Adam and Eve ate from the tree of knowledge.

Even today a classic pizza biancho (without tomato) is a version with cheese, bacon, and pear.
