Europeans can't even organize an embargo
Even if goods are sold through a proxy, that still exerts economic pressure, because you are adding a middleman and extra paperwork. Maybe europeans could have done a beter job with the embargo, but you also have to consider that if Russia really wants to acquire some commodity, there is not really a way to stop them from getting it if they have the money, proxies and means to get it. An embargo can only make that more difficult.
Nice figure btw
$80 million dollars worth? It's a tiny amount
What's wrong with Kyrgyzstan
Exports to Kyrgyzstan shot up after Russia invaded Ukraine. Not because there's an economic miracle in Kyrgyzstan, but because they're smuggling the goods to Russia (is the implication at least).
@ChairmanMeow @Flax_vert
I cannot understand why nothing is done about this. The problem is, when they say at the Finnish border "this product is going to Kyrgyzstan", but it actually stays in the Russia, it has earlier not been Finland's problem but one of the Russia β it means that the customs fees for the Russia have not been paid and the product lands there anyway.
Now it's different but we still behave like we did in 1996 and 2003 and 2021.
Why?
