Welcome!

Can you imagine, years ago how the internet was before? We know Facebook, Twitter, Tiktok, Youtube. We knew blogger, Tumblr, Skyrock... and long before, it was the forum era as phpBB..and mail-lists.

And now with ActivityPub, we are reshaping the web, and achieving much with lots of freedom. So thank you all, and welcome ๐ŸคŸ๐Ÿ˜

I used to say "Welcome to Lemmy" to new joiners, but nowadays quite a few of them join Piefed instance, having a generic term is easier

You can't follow Mastodon users from Lemmy or Piefed, using "Fedivers" seems too generic

I say lemmy too. Threadiverse sounds like Iโ€™m making something up.

Yep it's like something from a bad sci fi movie

On the other hand, when you want people to join a Piefed instance because it has better features, they'll why they shouldn't join a "Lemmy.xyz" instance when you told them to join Lemmy

Has happened to me in the past when trying to get people to try the platform
