Mirroring is more for your own content, unless you get permission to set up an instance to mirror others' content to like the numerous mirroring instances already on PT.
Generally though, just like with Odysee, mirroring is for content you made.
Thats what i though.
My suggestion is to maken clients (preferably invidious) accept other sources and comes from a consumer standpoint.
I don’t want to lose the creators i follow, i want them to migrate away from YouTube.
Creators themselves may not want to migrate because they will lose new upload hype Income from youtube.
Releasing on youtube (or floatplane) first while mirroring older content to peertube seems ideal to create slow and steady momentum where:
The creators get to keep the existing upload hype and income while also building new presence away from youtube.
The audience gets to consume their content of all creators from a singular place and possibly can set preferences to use the PeerTube mirror as a source when its available and the youtube source when there is not.
Creator also don't have to worry as much about losing the audience when they do cut with youtube completely because the client will serve them from the new source automatically. (Does require some public register of official sources by real creators)
