President Trump’s executive order threatened to prosecute donors who support antifascist philosophy and issued a domestic terrorism designation that doesn’t exist under U.S. law.

There's a word for anti-anti-fascist

I dunno anything about a Floo user. My comment is unrelated to that topic.

[–] jordanlund@lemmy.world 7 points 2 days ago (8 children)

Sorry about that, I assumed due to the removed Floo content below. I needed a shower after that one! Not even kidding!

I'm not too concerned about the Antifa thing because as I stated elsewhere in this thread and others, it's not REALLY about Antifa, it's a dog whistle Trump is going to use to go after George Soros.

At this point I think we can pretty much start the clock, probably in October? Definitely before Thanksgiving.

My question is, if people start being prosecuted for being “antifa” or, for their anti-fascist remarks/actions/whatever. Is .world gonna be a little bitch or are they going to allow it regardless of the risk?

[–] jordanlund@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Allow what? News articles about it? Sure, it was before my time on Lemmy, but when Trump goons were illegally black bagging people in Portland, stories like that would be allowed:

https://www.npr.org/2020/07/17/892277592/federal-officers-use-unmarked-vehicles-to-grab-protesters-in-portland

An action which was blatantly illegal on the face of it, but got WORSE when people figured out that the guy behind it, Chad Wolf (not a made up name), was himself SERVING illegally.

https://www.americanprogress.org/press/statement-illegal-tenure-acting-u-s-secretary-homeland-security-chad-wolf-made-compelling-case-senate-reject-nomination-says-caps-tom-jawetz/

What Lemmy will not allow is promoting or organizing violence. If you want a rebellion, this is not the place to talk about it. In fact, you shouldn't be talking about it online AT ALL. It's not secure, too easy to track, too easy to subpoena, etc.

We won't allow the inevitable headline of "the deceased terroists organized on a platform called 'Lemmy'."

It was bad enough when one of our mods blew up a fertility clinic.

I mean comments that are anti-fascist, not just news articles about topics considered by many of us to be about fascism.

Let’s consider trump’s ability to do stuff regardless of how a judge denies him. Then let’s imagine a world in the very near future where Trump goes full-McCarthy and people are detained just on suspicion of being or associating with “antifa.”

Now, if I post a comment such as, “I am antifa and I support overthrowing of the fascist US government”

Will you or will you not remove that comment?

[–] jordanlund@lemmy.world 0 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

Supporting overthrowing the government would be a call to violence and would be removed as above.

Do not call for violence on the Lemmy platform.

Call for new elections? Absolutely. Call for impeachment and removal from office? +1 Would upvote again. Arrests, prosecutions, and prison time? Yup, yup, yup. "RICO Act"? At least buy me a drink first.

Do not call for violent acts.

That's how we got 1/6.

[–] apenstaartje@lemmy.cafe 5 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I didn’t call for violence. I called to overthrow the fascist government.

Voting, arresting, impeaching, are all things that don’t happen with a fascist government, so calling for those by name is a waste of time.

[–] jordanlund@lemmy.world -1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

You can't overthrow a government non-violently.

See the last real attempt in Myanmar:

https://news.un.org/en/story/2024/09/1154436

Even having control over the military, it was still violent. Now imagine opposing the military.

[–] apenstaartje@lemmy.cafe 5 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I feel like you’re not really answering the question because you know the moment .world cracks down, you will obey and remove all content that could be considered antifa.

[–] jordanlund@lemmy.world -1 points 1 day ago

Anything that is non violent is absolutely fine, always has been.
