Jimmy Kimmel will return to air on Tuesday after his show was suspended following comments he made about the death of Charlie Kirk, Disney has said in a statement released in the last few moments.

"Last Wednesday, we made the decision to suspend production on the show to avoid further inflaming a tense situation at an emotional moment for our country," the statement says.

"It is a decision we made because we felt some of the comments were ill-timed and thus insensitive. We have spent the last days having thoughtful conversations with Jimmy, and after those conversations, we reached the decision to return the show on Tuesday."

Except I'm not resubscribing Disney.

That's not how it works.

You haven't felt the pain of freedom of my wallet.

If you don't resubscribe, then you can't unsubscribe the next time!

I really hope you're trying to be funny.

It's the only ring these companies understand.

If there's no one left who gives a shit they can do whatever they like and won't feel any pain next time.

The people have some power with their wallet by only if they use it.

You're under no moral obligation to resubscribe at all, but if nobody does, they made a financial mistake by putting the show back on the air.

Are you serious? If they don't have subscribers, they can do whatever they want? I mean sure, but who gives a shit, they don't make money because they don't have any customers!

You don't give them more money so you can take it away later, that's idiotic. Spend your money on a decent VPN and torrent that shit, or read books instead of consuming so much corporate capitalist empire propaganda, your life will be better anyway.

If they don’t have subscribers, they can do whatever they want?

If they don't have any people who give a shit as subscribers they can do what they want. They can go batshit insane alt right loony neo nazi with no further penalty, indeed, if they're pretty much the only subscribers, there's a financial benefit to go further magat and a loss to do otherwise. And your daughter well plead with you to get disney so she can watch pretty princesses and if you cave, then your son will grow up racist.

When fox pulls this shit they are fine, because sane people aren't watching anyway. The only reason disney backed down is that it hurt them. If no one goes back, it can't possibly hurt them a second time.

But absolutely you sold do what toy want with your money and if this was a permanent deal breaker for you, go ahead and permanently reject them. I'm OK with that, really, but I can't pretend that you'll have ongoing influence on their future decision making at the same time.

Financial mistake? Putting the show back on slows the bleeding, so they don't lose even more subscribers. Seems like the wise choice (after the dumb choice that preceded it).

[–] genuineparts 3 points 2 days ago (1 children)

No the finanical mistake was the beginning. Eroding the goodwill people had for your company was the mistake. Rebuilding that will bring back the money.

You're right of course.
