Around 800 detainees showed no record on ICE’s online database. More than 450 listed no location and only instructed the user to “Call ICE for details” — a vague notation that attorneys said could mean that a detainee is still being processed, in the middle of a transfer between two sites or about to be deported.

Borrego’s family were at their wits end trying to find him, Fernandez said. “This is like psychological torture,” she said. “Where’s the humanity?” Finally, after more than a week, they heard from Borrego again. But he wasn’t in California. He was 2,000 miles away from where ICE said he would be. Borrego had abruptly been deported to the Mexican state of Tabasco.

How the actual FUCK did they lose him in transit and somehow send him to fucking TABASCO, MEXICO??? He's from fucking Cuba! These are the dumbest, most incompetent Nazis ever.

Are you sure that is incompetence and not a cruel, criminal system working as intended?

Oh there's definitely cruelty there, absolutely loads of it, but this also screams "We're so incompetent we shouldn't be trusted with anything!!!"

They:

  • built that abortion of a facility in a week
  • bragged about how shitty and awful it was nonstop
  • IMMEDIATELY failed to do even basic logistical work to support the facility in any capacity (definitely cruel, but also incompetent)
  • lost track of 50% of their charges AS SOON AS THEY LEFT FOR ANY REASON
  • failed at providing any documentation on any of their charges as soon as they left, as well
  • somehow lost MULTIPLE PEOPLE MID-TRANSFER, directly before court dates they were scheduled for, only for them to not only NOT ARRIVE where they were supposed to, but to ACTIVELY have been deported by mistake, and to the wrong countries

Say what you will about cruelty, it's all certainly true, but this belies a level of absolute apathy, and even contempt, for any sort of logistical prowess and even basic record keeping. The ACTUAL NAZIS, the Fascist dictators these dipshits seem so keen to want to be seen as, were fucking EXCELLENT at keeping records. These are the laziest, most incompetent, most "schoolyard bully whose dad is drinking buddies with the principal" Fascists anyone has ever SEEN.

If you keep records, people can be found.

If you deport people to their correct country like Cubans to Cuba, then they might be able to access resources. If you send a Cuban to Mexico then they are a fish out of water. They will start sending Venezuelans and Mexicans to an African country so that they're less likely to show up in there original country get taken advantage of and possibly be enslaved.
