OK. Do we need modern electronic devices, or are they a luxury?
Because if we don't need them, then there's a lot less need for rare earths in general and this entire argument is moot.
You can't just handwave the details and say, "You figure it out!" and then act like you've made some salient, insightful point. If you think it's so simple to figure out, that only indicates that you haven't looked into the issue beyond the surface level.
