I have been trying to get my Quest 2 working with my Legion Go 2, which has SteamOS installed. apparently the native Quest Steam Link app doesn't work with handhelds yet.
Does this work with that, or is it more of a general Linux thing?
It's a general Linux thing.
You're probably better off using WiVRn or ALVR (or both) for the moment, though.
