Most people have no idea how destructive bullets actually are to bodies, or how much you bleed. Most people have never seen, or have never seen many, actual shootings, and think that it is something in the neighborhood of an action movie on the bloodier side of things.
Yeah they're saying it was a high powered, bolt action rifle not just ya normal 5.56 AR. The crack of the shot was very distinctive, most likely something like .308 which will fuck up unarmored personnel.
