I just want to point out some things since everyone is assuming it was a leftist shooter:

  1. No one knows who the shooter actually is.
  2. Most leftist reactions I've seen to Kirk have been to laugh at his stupidity, not get murderously angry at him.
  3. No political message has appeared yet, like the one Luigi put on the bullets he used. Which if you're a leftist shooter, come on you gotta at least do that homage.
  4. The shooter killed him with one shot from a distance and got out without being caught.
  5. I've never met a leftist who knows how to shoot a gun, nevermind one with that level of skill. If it was a leftist, I'm surprised they couldn't catch them by now by simply arresting the one leftist who knows how to shoot at long distance.

But Kash Patel is on the case! They had the wrong guy detained for hours and the real shooter is gonzo. Some random lefty in Birkenstocks and a ponytail did not make that shot from 520ft.

Genuine question: re point 5. Is this some kind of joke? Political affiliation reflects one’s level of marksmanship? That’s an absolutely wild idea.

There are many leftists who a) own guns, and b) can hit a 200yd man sized target.

Its a good shot, and a hard shot, but its not an unusually skilled shot. Many hunters take 200, 300, even 500 yd shots, usually to the boiler room, but neck shots are somewhat commonly done too.

Here's another. Not even American either.

And yes thank you for saying it's not that big a deal of a shot if they were using anything remotely decent. Another thread had someone theorising it had to be Russian special forces because of the difficulty of the shot. I mean come on, 200 yards from an elevated platform, clear line of sight, stationary target, clear day no wind. Shooting wise it's about as easy as it gets.

The difficulty comes in the fact it's not a deer hunt - the shooter was probably fearing being seen, aware of the consequences of getting caught, if mentally normal then killing another person is very hard, adrenaline up (makes the hands shake and messes with the head), those are the things that make it hard nothing else.

You can thank US imperialism making a lot of angry people who are used to killing a human.

Yeah I find that point a bit odd. I’m not American so not around guns but it appears the more interesting thing is the person got away after now that must be difficult with all the camera around.

This feels more like a professional killing for whatever reason. Now I’m just an armchair detective. But could instantly see that the Luigi killing was more an amateur than an actual assassin due to him buying coffee before hand and stuff.

In reply to #5. You must not know many leftists then, I don't know a single leftist who doesn't know how to shoot a gun. I know several who do not own them, but that's because they've prioritized their own harm reduction. I know multiple who engage in shooting sports such as long range, three gun, etc.

Whats hilarious is that they say it was “radical left” people every time, and yet ultimately it always trickles out later that the person who did it was either politically conservative, or just generally a nut. To my knowledge no one has actually ever shot anyone because they held progressive or liberal beliefs.

The guy who “shot” Trump, accused liberal but verified conservative. The guy who hid at Trumps golf course trying to do the same? Verified conservative. The trans highschool shooter from a couple weeks ago? Accused liberal, but was actually just a straight up nazi glorifier. Like id give it better odds that the person who shot Kirk was a conservative who was mad about the Epstein files, just like the kid who tried to assassinate Trump was. Id say its also not far fetched that Kirk was a sacrificial lamb executed by his own party in order to secure the young conservative vote by generating a martyr. Its at least way more likely than someone with progressive and humanistic beliefs shooting him, considering assassinations and humanism dont exactly go hand in hand. Not to mention its suspicious as fuck that he was shot from a crowd and they somehow didnt catch the shooter…

AFAIK evidence linking Luigi to the murder of the health insurance parasite is pretty thin.

You know who has lots of people who can shoot well at long distances?

The government.

[–] Zron@lemmy.world 3 points 52 minutes ago

You know who considers long distance to be 200 yards? Fucking no one who’s ever shot a rifle chambered in a full-sized cartridge.

I swear no one on this site has ever shot anything but an AR or Glock at their local indoor range. My local outdoor range has lanes specifically set up for 100 and 200 yard targets. It’s almost like this is an incredibly common range to shoot at, and the resources to practice are available to nearly everyone in the country that owns a rifle and a vehicle. Anyone who’s ever hunted a deer with a rifle could make this shot, and has definitely made 200 yard shots before, even if only to zero their scope.

[–] I_Clean_Here@lemmy.world 8 points 4 hours ago

This is a very stupid list, speaking as a leftist.

[–] arc99@lemmy.world 9 points 5 hours ago* (last edited 3 hours ago)

Being realistic the person shooting probably did disagree with his politics but until the shooter is caught we have no idea what the motives were. And there are other credible possibilities - a political / financial / personal rival, an opportunist / fantasist, a hit, or even a false flag. For all anyone knows he fucked the wrong dude's wife. When the perp is caught we'll find out.

[–] StarvingMartist@sh.itjust.works 18 points 5 hours ago

Okay, all reasonable but number 5, that's dumb, humans pick their hobbies more or less at random. Fuck it could be a teenage Mormon missionary with a gun fetish for all we know.

All I'm saying is if my sweet old southern grandma didnt pull me aside one day and show me her fucking sword collection I would be a different man
